If you have been wearing glasses from a young age, you would understand what a struggle it is to make sure they fit your face perfectly. Glasses can be a hassle as your usual habits include nose pinching, sliding your glasses back up, or constantly finding a clean cloth to wipe them with.
Here are some tips to keep in handy when your glasses feel too slippery or need a little tightening.
Using a hairdryer to tighten plastic frames:
If your glasses keep lying low on your nose and have loosened up over time, then a quick and easy fix would be to run it under the hairdryer for 15 to 20 seconds to tighten the frame. This would ensure your glasses are just as new. If you don't have a hairdryer at the moment, then running the frame under hot water does the same job. This works for plastic frames only.
Stop glasses from fogging:
People with glasses know how hard it is to sip any hot drinks with the temporary blur that takes over your glasses. The solution for that fogging is to rub a bar of soap on the lenses and wipe it off with a clean cloth. Now you can enjoy your morning coffee without any hassle of fogging.
Correct crookedness:
You can check the crookedness of your frame buy, placing it on the table and see whether both the arms align or not. If your wired frame needs symmetry, then try to gently bend the arm with a plier and adjust it accordingly. For plastic frames, the two options would be running the crooked arm under hot water or tighten it with a hair dryer.
Remove scratches with toothpaste:
Scrubbing the dirt off your glasses with just any cloth leads to scratches, mainly because there is a layer of dust on the clothes we are wearing. The best option would be to opt for a clean cloth designated just for your glasses. Toothpaste works wonders when it comes to making your glasses scratch-free again. For each lens, take a small amount of plain toothpaste (without gel or whitening) and clean it off with a cloth. Repeat the procedure until no scratches are left.
Prevent glasses from slipping:
The most uncomfortable thing is when you have to reach for your face every 5 seconds as your glasses keep slipping off because of constant sweat on your face. Buy an eyeshadow primer from any drugstore or locality and rub a little on the bridge of your nose and no slipping for the rest of the day!
Never use chemicals to clean glasses:
Using chemicals like ammonia or window cleaner is not a good option as it strips off all the protective coatings on your lenses. If you need a handy glasses cleaner, then you can make one easily with the help of dish soap. Dilute dish soap in water and put it in a small spray bottle. Now you have a cheap and quick cleaner for your glasses.
